Building Resilence in Face of Disaster
The recent natural disasters that affected General Cerri in Argentina exposed a lack of preparation and coordination to face them. Therefore, we intend to contribute to the strengthening of their community and organizational ties to bolster resilience.
Overview
General Daniel Cerri in Bahía Blanca, Argentina has recently been affected by different natural disasters. Goal 11 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls for prevention, reduction and recovery from such events. One of the fundamental characteristics of a resilient community is its social cohesion, an aspect that proved to be a weakness in this town of 7,704 inhabitants.
Through the university courses and research groups involved in the proposal, our objective is to contribute to the strengthening of General Daniel Cerri’s community and organizational ties. This will be achieved by identifying social actors, conducting community mapping, and developing grassroots proposals aimed at fostering local bonds and improving the inhabitants’ quality of life.
