Living School Campus Post Disaster
Cave Urban are designing the master plan for three Living School campuses. Rebuilding after the 2022 Lismore floods, the project explores how architecture can increase resilience to natural disasters and re-imagine existing built infrastructure.
Overview
Founded by John Stewart, The Living School is a unique not-for-profit progressive K-10 independent co-learning community. Cave Urban were engaged to design the master plan for three campuses; a project with a significant community component, responding to natural challenges—floods and climate resilience. We’ve established sustainable protocols for developing the site and buildings, using local resources and infrastructure while upskilling the community. The Living School Lismore and the Kindergarten were the first stage of the project. The original building was John’s family home and his father’s medical suites.
