Moscou St Gives Meaning to Social Struggles
Participatory projects developed for the community of Moscou Street in Campinas, São Paulo: the Anhumas River Linear Park (2021) and the Community Kitchen (2024)
Overview
The projects were developed by students of a Specialization Course for Rua Moscou, in Campinas. The region, which houses diverse groups organized under community leadership with a residents’ association, met at each stage to present and discuss the demands and projects presented. Among the numerous demands arising from territorial precariousness, the local river stands out as the main structuring element of the community’s needs. Based on guidelines defined participatively, two projects were developed and chosen by the residents themselves: the Ribeirão Anhumas Linear Park and a community kitchen. Both projects have already been presented to the public authorities in intersectoral meetings.
