Balkan Landscape Planning Project
This project proposes a robust landscape framework for Trakya University Balkan Campus in Edirne, integrating nature-based solutions to enhance ecological performance and water management, guided by GreenMetric indicators on Energy Climate Change, and Transportation.
Overview
This landscape planning project for Trakya University Balkan Campus in Edirne develops a sustainable, resilient campus framework integrating ecological restoration, water-sensitive design, and inclusive public spaces. Responding to environmental degradation, habitat fragmentation, and climate pressures, the proposal applies nature-based solutions to enhance biodiversity, manage stormwater, and improve microclimate performance. Guided by UI GreenMetric indicators—Energy and Climate Change, Water, Education, and Transportation—the plan aligns spatial decisions with measurable sustainability outcomes. Phased strategies envision adaptive growth for 2040 and 2055, strengthening ecological connectivity, walkability, learning landscapes, and low-carbon mobility, while supporting long-term campus identity, stewardship, and community engagement across academic life together
